Electronics Recycling Superguide!
PC Magazine has put together a guide to show you how to recycle your used electronics through manufacturers, your local electronics stores, and online trade-in programs that offer you cash or gift...
Recycling is one of the most important things we can do as a community. By helping to mine valuable materials out of garbage, we reduce our reliance on landfills, enhance the quality of our air quality by reducing incineration, save energy, and prevent pollution caused by the extraction and processing of virgin materials.
Yet, Buffalo currently recycles just 6.5% of its solid waste, a rate well below the national average of 27%. Many of our residents do not see this as a crucial problem, but there is a lot more to this issue than just reducing what we send to a landfill. Consider:
- Increasing our recycling rate by a mere 1% will bring an additional $72,000 into the city coffers. That's money well spent on projects and programs that can improve the quality of life in our city.
- Recycling creates jobs - for every job created at landfills to handle our trash, recycling creates six! For an area that is in desperate need of jobs, this is a very important benefit.
Included as a part of this site is a comprehensive recycling menu, detailing what to recycle for the city curbside recycling program. You'll also find a recycling and reuse directory with information about how to properly recycle items not included as a part of the curbside program.
This site is created to provide the citizens of Buffalo with information about the City's curbside recycling program, but we hope you'll also use it to learn more about the value of recycling and reuse in everyday life.
