Fluorescent Lights/Ballasts

Spent lighting products are the second largest source of mercury and PCB contamination in our municipal solid waste systems. Recycling of fluorescent light bulbs and ballasts keeps toxic mercury, lead and PCBs out of the environment, where even a few ounces can endanger our water, wildlife, and fish. In humans, these carcinogens can cause skin, liver, and reproductive disorders.
